Birmingham has fewer dedicated Shopify agencies than its size suggests, and a great many of the results for “Shopify agency Birmingham” belong to firms in Bristol, Manchester, Cheshire and Dorset. This guide sorts the local from the imported.

For a region of this size the genuinely local Shopify bench is short. We checked every agency ranking for Shopify searches across Birmingham, Coventry, Wolverhampton and Solihull against its own contact page and against Companies House, and were left with three firms holding a real West Midlands address, one of which is a two-person operation.
Everything else was somewhere else: Bristol, Manchester, Nantwich, Dorchester, Warwickshire, and in one case a firm whose own Birmingham landing page states outright that it does not staff a Birmingham office. That is not automatically a problem — remote delivery is normal and we do it ourselves — but you should be choosing it knowingly rather than discovering it after you have signed. Every address below is sourced, and where a firm publishes no company number we say so.
Shopify agencies serving the West Midlands, with each location taken from the agency's own contact page or its Companies House record.

We only included agencies we could place in or immediately next to the West Midlands from their own contact page or from Companies House, plus ourselves, clearly marked as being based in Kent.
There is a meaningful difference between agencies that write bespoke Shopify code and those that configure themes and apps. For complex functionality or integrations, only the former will do.
Many retailers need Shopify connected to ERPs, warehouse systems, or fulfilment platforms. This is a distinct technical skill set. Not all agencies have it, even if they say they do.
An agency whose typical project is a starter store will be out of their depth on a complex mid-market build. We looked at the actual scale and type of work each agency has delivered.
Some agencies pitch senior people and deliver via junior developers or offshore teams. We prioritised agencies where the people who talk to you are the people who build your store.
Plenty of agencies publish a landing page for a county they have no office in. Every address on this page was taken from the agency's own contact page or from Companies House, never from a regional landing page.
Given what this page is about, we should be first to say it: Dev Partners are in Gravesend, Kent. There is no Birmingham office and there never has been. We work with West Midlands retailers remotely, with everything written in-house by our own developers and nothing outsourced, and Birmingham is a straightforward run when a project genuinely needs us there.
We are a Shopify Select Partner, Shopify's second-highest partner tier, and the majority of our work is custom code and integration rather than theme configuration — connecting Shopify to NetSuite, Peoplevox, Sage, 3PLs and bespoke back-office systems. Our clients include AX Paris, Motel Rocks and Chi Chi London. You speak to Rob or Jason directly, and the people who scope your project are the people who write it.
To be fair about the alternative: magic42 in Birmingham are a genuine Shopify specialist with named ERP integrations, and if being able to sit in a room with your agency matters, you should talk to them. If what you need is depth on the integration side and a straight answer on cost, the distance is less of a problem than it sounds.
magic42 are the most convincing Shopify specialist with a genuine West Midlands address. Their office on Regent Place in Birmingham matches their registered office at Companies House, and they describe themselves as an ecommerce development agency that will “build, integrate and grow Shopify and Shopify Plus stores”, alongside Adobe Commerce work, Liquid theme development, custom app development and migrations from Magento and WooCommerce.
The detail that sets them apart regionally is integration. They are the only West Midlands agency we found naming the systems they connect to: Brightpearl, Sage, Khaos Control and Aptean's Prima Solutions, plus Klaviyo, ShipperHQ and Recharge. They display a Shopify Partners badge; we could not find a written Shopify Plus Partner claim, so treat the tier as unconfirmed. One caution when reading their site: the figures on their Plus page are Shopify's own platform costs, not magic42's fees.
WOW Group of Companies Ltd are at iCentrum in Birmingham, with their published address matching Companies House, and they have been trading since 2002. They call themselves “the West Midland's choice for e-commerce web development specialists” and sell the full stack around a store: design and build, integration, SEO, social, strategy, hosting, support, conversion and analytics.
They are deliberately multi-platform — Shopify, BigCommerce, Magento, WooCommerce, Aero Commerce and Shopline — so Shopify is one option among several rather than a specialism, and they make no Shopify Partner claim we could find. They sell ecommerce integration as a service line but name no ERP or warehouse platform, and the relevant pages on their site were unavailable when we checked. For a West Midlands organisation that wants one supplier across build, marketing and hosting, they are an established local choice; press them on the Shopify specifics.
Solihull Digital are a small studio in Shirley, offering website design, hosting, branding and ecommerce, including Shopify stores, to clients around Solihull and Coventry. For a local business wanting a straightforward store built by someone nearby and reachable, that is a perfectly reasonable brief and they are set up for it.
Be clear-eyed about scale. They publish a mobile number rather than a landline, no company registration number, and no partner accreditation, and they make no integration or platform-migration claims. That is fine for a simple store and a poor fit for anything that has to connect to stock, an ERP or a fulfilment provider. If you are weighing them up, ask what the largest store they have built is and who supports it.
HTDL are long established, with offices at Ardent Court in Henley-in-Arden and in London, and they run a Birmingham Shopify landing page. Their published address puts them in Warwickshire rather than the West Midlands county — twenty minutes from Solihull, so “local” is fair in practice even though “West Midlands based” is not strictly accurate.
Shopify sits within a broad full-service offering covering web, creative and marketing rather than standing as a specialism, and we found no Shopify Partner claim or named integration capability on their site. For a business that wants an established agency it can visit, handling the store alongside wider marketing, they are worth a conversation. For a technically demanding Shopify build, compare their development depth directly against a specialist.
West Midlands retailers come to us for one of two reasons. Either they are on a platform they have outgrown and need moving to Shopify without losing their rankings, or they already run Shopify and need it doing something apps cannot do — usually talking properly to their stock, their ERP or their warehouse.
We are in Kent, so this is remote work and we will not dress that up. No local office to drop into. What you get instead is direct access to the developers writing your code, a Shopify Select Partner behind the work, and nothing sent offshore.
We work with Shopify businesses right across the West Midlands. These are the areas we are asked about most:
We also work with retailers in Coventry, Dudley, Walsall and West Bromwich. We are based in Kent, not the West Midlands — everything is delivered remotely by our own developers, and we travel when a project warrants it.
The questions worth asking before you sign anything.
Ask directly. For custom functionality, ERP integration, or complex workflows, you need an agency that writes bespoke code rather than working within what a theme allows.
Some agencies pitch senior staff and deliver via junior developers or offshore teams. Ask directly who writes the code day to day and who your point of contact is throughout.
Ask for specific examples relevant to your sector and project type, not just logos. Detail about what they built and what the challenges were.
Ask for the address on their contact page, not the one on the landing page you arrived through. Several agencies ranking for this county publish no address at all.
If your store needs connecting to an ERP, warehouse system, or third-party fulfilment, confirm the agency has actually done this before.
Ask how post-launch work is handled, how quickly they respond to issues, and whether you will be talking to developers or account managers.

We have worked with Dev Partners for 7 years and can highly recommend them for their expertise and excellent customer service.
No. We are based in Gravesend in Kent and we work with West Midlands retailers remotely. We have no Birmingham office and we are not going to claim one, which puts us ahead of at least one agency whose own Birmingham page admits it has no staff there either.
Birmingham, Solihull, Coventry, Wolverhampton, Dudley, Walsall and West Bromwich, among others. All of it is delivered remotely by our own developers, with travel when a project genuinely calls for it.
For a straightforward store, you may not need to. The region's genuine Shopify specialists are worth talking to. Where we come in is custom development and integration — Shopify talking properly to an ERP, a warehouse or a 3PL — which is a thinner bench locally than the search results suggest.
We are a Shopify Select Partner, Shopify's second-highest partner tier, and we work on both Plus and standard Shopify. Whether Plus is right for you depends on checkout requirements and volume rather than on what an agency would prefer to sell you.
Yes, and most of our work involves it. NetSuite, Peoplevox, Linnworks, Sage, third-party logistics and bespoke back-office systems. Getting this right is usually what separates a store that scales from one that stalls.
Yes, it is a large part of what we do. We plan the data migration first, run it into a staging store, check it properly, and keep your URLs and rankings intact through the switch.
Smaller custom development is in the low thousands; a full build with integrations is more. You get a fixed written quote with the scope set out before any work begins.
A Shopify store is easy to launch and hard to get right at scale. The work that matters is the part customers never see — how cleanly it talks to your stock, your orders and your back office. We write code rather than stack up apps, so it still performs when you're at your busiest.
Whether you are building a new Shopify store, migrating from a platform you have outgrown, or need custom functionality your current setup cannot support, we will tell you what is involved and what it would cost.
