Leeds has one of the strongest Shopify agency clusters outside London, with Sheffield and East Yorkshire adding more. It also attracts an unusual number of agencies from other counties publishing Leeds and Sheffield landing pages. This guide separates them.

Leeds genuinely is a serious ecommerce city. Onstate and Northern Artillery between them work with Mamas & Papas, World of Books, Abbott Lyon, Silver Cross and Micro Scooters, and that is not a thin roster by any measure. Herd, over in East Yorkshire, sit in Shopify's own Plus partner directory. There is real capability here.
What muddies the search results is everyone else. Of the agencies ranking for “Shopify agency Leeds” and “Shopify agency Sheffield”, we found ones whose own contact pages give Stevenage, Manchester, Nantwich and Dorchester. One publishes a Leeds street address on its Leeds landing page that appears nowhere on its own contact page, which lists Manchester and Liverpool. Another says “based in Sheffield” on its homepage while its footer gives a Derbyshire address. Every address below came from the agency's own contact page or from Companies House, never from a regional landing page.
Shopify agencies genuinely based in Yorkshire, with each location taken from the agency's own contact page or its Companies House record.

We only included agencies we could place in Yorkshire from their own contact page or from Companies House. Several well-ranked names were left out for exactly that reason, and we explain why below.
There is a meaningful difference between agencies that write bespoke Shopify code and those that configure themes and apps. For complex functionality or integrations, only the former will do.
Many retailers need Shopify connected to ERPs, warehouse systems, or fulfilment platforms. This is a distinct technical skill set. Not all agencies have it, even if they say they do.
An agency whose typical project is a starter store will be out of their depth on a complex mid-market build. We looked at the actual scale and type of work each agency has delivered.
Some agencies pitch senior people and deliver via junior developers or offshore teams. We prioritised agencies where the people who talk to you are the people who build your store.
Plenty of agencies publish a landing page for a county they have no office in. Every address on this page was taken from the agency's own contact page or from Companies House, never from a regional landing page.
We are in Kent, not Yorkshire, and given what the rest of this page is about it would be poor form to be coy about it. Dev Partners are based in Gravesend and work with Yorkshire retailers remotely, with everything written in-house and nothing outsourced. If you want an agency you can walk to, Leeds is genuinely well served and we would tell you as much on a call.
Where we earn our place on this page is depth. We are a Shopify Select Partner, Shopify's second-highest partner tier, and most of what we do is custom code and integration rather than theme work — connecting Shopify to NetSuite, Peoplevox, Sage, 3PLs and bespoke back-office systems. Clients include AX Paris, Motel Rocks and Chi Chi London. When you get in touch you speak to Rob or Jason, and the people who scope your project are the people who build it.
The honest summary: for a Leeds retailer who values being in the room, Onstate or Northern Artillery are excellent and you should talk to them. For a store whose real problem is that Shopify cannot see its stock properly, that is our day job.
Onstate Limited have been in Leeds since 2010, and their published address matches their registered office at Companies House — a smaller detail than it sounds, given how many agencies on the Leeds results page fail that test. They describe their work as crafting “bespoke Shopify solutions that seamlessly integrate into your existing business processes”, across solution design, UX, build and migration, CRO and ongoing support.
Their client list is the strongest evidence: Mamas & Papas, World of Books, Abbott Lyon, Crockett & Jones, Issey Miyake and WatchGecko. They claim Shopify Platinum Agency Partner status. Worth checking directly: they name no ERP, warehouse or fulfilment platform anywhere on their site, so if your project hinges on a specific integration, ask what they have connected before rather than reading “existing business processes” as a yes.
Northern Artillery publish a Leeds address and a Leeds phone number, and claim both Shopify Premier Partner and certified Shopify Plus Partner status. Their offering runs scoping and technical audits, UX and UI, custom theme development, bespoke functionality, performance work and Shopify Plus migration, positioned as a long-term technical partnership rather than a build-and-go.
They are one of only two Yorkshire agencies we found stating integration capability outright: “custom integrations that connect Shopify Plus with ERP, CRM, and fulfilment systems”. They name no specific platforms, so establish that in conversation. Their clients include Silver Cross, Micro Scooters, Inkey and JustMyLook. One gap: they publish no company registration number and we could not match them to a Companies House record — not a red flag on its own, but ask if it matters to your procurement.
Herd Agency Limited are based at Waterside Business Park in Hessle, on the edge of Hull. That is genuinely Yorkshire but it is East Riding rather than Leeds or Sheffield, so factor in an hour's drive if proximity is part of your decision. They claim Shopify Premier Partner status and are listed in Shopify's own Plus Solutions Partner directory.
Their distinguishing feature is the mix: SEO, paid media, content, digital PR and strategy sit alongside “creating, migrating, and optimising Shopify websites for global growth”, with marketing listed first and occupying the larger share of the site. Their clients include Chilly's, Dock & Bay, Spitfire Audio and Motorpoint. For a growing DTC brand that wants the build and the traffic from one supplier, that is a real advantage. They make no ERP, warehouse or 3PL claim anywhere we could find.
Cefar Limited have been going since 1999, with their main office at Lawnswood Business Park in Leeds and a second address in London. Shopify sits inside a broad menu — website design, website development, software development, digital marketing, maintenance and ecommerce design, with WordPress, API integration and AI as sub-services. They name HSBC, the NHS, EE and Arla on their homepage.
On integration they are explicit: “we can efficiently streamline your operations by integrating third-party applications, such as your ERP and CRM systems, into your store.” One thing to read carefully — they describe themselves as “a Shopify Plus agency”, which is a self-description rather than a stated accreditation, and is not the same thing as the Premier or Platinum partner claims elsewhere on this page. For an organisation that wants one supplier across web, Shopify and marketing, they are a credible Leeds choice; for a pure Shopify specialist, the agencies above are more focused.
Yorkshire retailers come to us for one of two reasons. Either they are on a platform they have outgrown and need moving to Shopify without losing their rankings, or they already run Shopify and need it doing something no app will do — usually talking properly to their stock, their ERP or their warehouse.
We are in Kent, so this is remote work and we are straight about what that means. No local office to drop into. What you get instead is direct access to the developers writing your code, a Shopify Select Partner behind the work, and nothing sent offshore.
We work with Shopify businesses right across Yorkshire. These are the areas we are asked about most:
We also work with retailers in Leeds, Sheffield, York, Hull and Huddersfield. We are based in Kent, not Yorkshire — everything is delivered remotely by our own developers, and we travel when a project warrants it.
The questions worth asking before you sign anything.
Ask directly. For custom functionality, ERP integration, or complex workflows, you need an agency that writes bespoke code rather than working within what a theme allows.
Some agencies pitch senior staff and deliver via junior developers or offshore teams. Ask directly who writes the code day to day and who your point of contact is throughout.
Ask for specific examples relevant to your sector and project type, not just logos. Detail about what they built and what the challenges were.
Ask for the address on their contact page, not the one on the landing page you arrived through. Several agencies ranking for this county publish no address at all.
If your store needs connecting to an ERP, warehouse system, or third-party fulfilment, confirm the agency has actually done this before.
Ask how post-launch work is handled, how quickly they respond to issues, and whether you will be talking to developers or account managers.
19 clients. A few of their words.
A well-rounded team, ensuring a full suite of expertise & resource is always available. CDS Global have seen the successful completion of major projects over the years where Dev Partners' ability to grasp the underlying business needs to provide a future-proof solution has been invaluable.
We have worked with Jason & his team to develop our Shopify store, and the experience was outstanding from start to finish. The design is clean, modern, and perfectly aligned with our brand identity, while the build is fast, responsive, and easy to manage on the backend. They clearly understood our vision and delivered a store we're genuinely proud of. Highly recommend to any brand looking for a top-quality Shopify partner.

Great agency. Have used Dev Partners for several years and they have built 20+ sites for us, in addition to taking on our legacy websites, upgrading and maintaining. Easy to work with and some great practical ideas to improve our digital offerings.
Jones Hire have been working with Dev Partners on several projects, which have been very successful. We have been trying to reinvent our website for over 5 years, trying to make it convert and failing each time. Spoke to Rob at Dev Partners, the team helped create our new site and the improvement was instant.
We have been working with Rob and the team for about 10 years now. Dev Partners helped us build a completely bespoke CRM from scratch which manages our daily business and is always well maintained. We have been able to use the system and roll it out in our new franchise branches.
We collaborated with Dev Partners on the front end of a fairly complex telemarketing platform. Rob and Jason took the time to properly understand the moving parts, asked the right questions, and delivered a clean, intuitive interface that's made the system far easier for our team to use.

I've worked with Rob and his team off and on for many years and have always found them to be professional, knowledgeable, and best of all, they listen to their clients and deliver what is required.
We have worked with Dev Partners for 7 years and can highly recommend them for their expertise and excellent customer service.
No. We are based in Gravesend in Kent and we work with Yorkshire retailers remotely. Given that several agencies ranking for Shopify searches in Leeds and Sheffield publish addresses in Hertfordshire, Manchester and Cheshire, it seemed only fair to lead with ours.
Sometimes you should not, and we will say so. Leeds has genuinely good Shopify agencies. Where we tend to win is integration work — connecting Shopify to an ERP, a warehouse system or a 3PL — which very few agencies do well anywhere, including here.
For a kick-off or a workshop, yes. After that, projects run over calls and shared boards. That is how most Shopify builds run in practice even when the agency is twenty minutes away.
We are a Shopify Select Partner, Shopify's second-highest partner tier, and we build on both Plus and standard Shopify. We are also happy to talk you out of Plus when your order volume does not justify the licence, which happens more often than you would expect.
Yes. NetSuite, Peoplevox, Linnworks, Sage, third-party logistics providers and bespoke back-office systems. If it has an API we can talk to it, and where it does not we have usually found another way in.
Frequently. We audit what is there, tell you honestly what is worth keeping, and work through the rest. We do not automatically recommend a rebuild — sometimes the theme is fine and the real problem is somewhere else entirely.
Smaller custom work runs into the low thousands; a full build with integrations is a larger figure. You get a fixed written quote before anything starts, with the scope spelled out so there is nothing to argue about later.
A Shopify store is easy to launch and hard to get right at scale. The work that matters is the part customers never see — how cleanly it talks to your stock, your orders and your back office. We write code rather than stack up apps, so it still performs when you're at your busiest.
Whether you are building a new Shopify store, migrating from a platform you have outgrown, or need custom functionality your current setup cannot support, we will tell you what is involved and what it would cost.
