You don't need to rewrite a working system because its framework has gone out of fashion. But you do need to know where you stand: an unmaintained framework on an old PHP version doesn't get safer with age.
Sometimes the answer is to keep it healthy. Sometimes it's a careful move to something newer. We'll give you the trade-offs first, not a pitch for whatever we'd rather be building.
