Case Study · International Fashion Ecommerce · Oracle NetSuite Integration
How we built a deep Oracle NetSuite and Shopify integration for one of the UK's best-known fashion brands, connecting global returns, wholesale, 3PL fulfilment, TikTok, and custom staff apps into a single automated operation.

Motel Rocks is a high-volume international fashion retailer with multiple Shopify stores serving customers across the UK, US, and global markets. As the business grew in scale and complexity, the gaps between their systems became increasingly costly.
Oracle NetSuite was running the financial and operational backbone of the business. Shopify was handling the customer-facing storefronts. Between them sat a growing number of manual processes, re-entry tasks, and workarounds that scaled badly with order volume. Data that existed in one system had to be manually transferred to the other. Returns followed different processes in the US and UK with no unified workflow. Wholesale, TikTok, 3PL connections and staff tools were all either manual or absent entirely.
The brief was direct: connect everything tightly, automate the manual steps, and build the tools the team actually needed to do their jobs without friction.
Orders, stock, pricing, and inventory data existed in both systems but were not synchronised. Manual re-entry was the bridge, and it was slow, error-prone, and unscalable.
US returns came through Loop. UK returns came through Swap. Neither fed automatically into NetSuite. Every return required manual processing and recording.
Creating and managing wholesale pack pricing, trade-specific collections, and B2B orders required significant manual effort with no tooling built for the job.
Purchase orders and shipments going to third-party logistics providers like Alaiko and Rydership were being managed manually, with no reliable status tracking or exception alerts.
Staff were working around the limitations of generic interfaces. Managing stock, processing returns, handling orders and running reports all required workarounds that added time and introduced errors.
TikTok was a growing sales channel with no data or stock integration. Advanced analytics across channels required manual data pulls and stitching together from multiple sources.
Rather than patch individual problems, we designed and built a comprehensive integration layer sitting between Shopify and Oracle NetSuite, connecting all third-party systems and providing the team with the tools they actually needed.
The core of the solution is a real-time bidirectional sync between Shopify and Oracle NetSuite. Orders flow from Shopify into NetSuite automatically. Inventory, pricing, and stock updates flow back. There is one source of truth, and it stays accurate without manual intervention.
On top of that core integration we built every workflow module the business needed: global returns, wholesale, 3PL connections, TikTok sync, bulk editing tools, custom staff apps, and advanced analytics. Each module was built to Motel Rocks' exact process rather than adapting a generic tool.
Bidirectional sync of orders, inventory, pricing, and stock across all Shopify storefronts and NetSuite. Every key data movement flows automatically between systems with no manual re-entry.
Both US and UK returns platforms were connected to NetSuite directly. Returns are processed automatically by region, recorded accurately, and exceptions flagged without manual intervention.
A complete wholesale module handling trade pack generation, B2B pricing tiers, and collection management for wholesale clients. What was a manual process became a managed workflow.
Purchase orders and shipments connected to both 3PL providers with automated status tracking, exception alerting, and reconciliation back into NetSuite.
TikTok connected as a sales and stock channel, with data fed into the broader analytics layer. Custom reporting across all channels built around the metrics the Motel Rocks team actually use.
Bulk pricing and attribute editing tools for managing products across multiple markets. Custom Shopify staff apps built around the actual workflows of the warehouse and operations teams.
The Motel Rocks integration is one of the most comprehensive we've built. Rather than a single integration connecting two systems, it's a purpose-built middleware layer connecting Shopify, Oracle NetSuite, two returns platforms, two 3PL providers, TikTok, and a suite of internal staff tools. Every component was designed around Motel Rocks' specific workflows rather than adapted from a generic template.
The impact ran across every part of the business that touches data, orders, or fulfilment.
Every key data movement between Shopify and NetSuite now happens automatically. The time previously spent on manual re-entry is gone, along with the errors that came with it.
US and UK returns now follow automated workflows that feed directly into NetSuite. Processing time dropped, accuracy improved, and the returns team stopped firefighting.
Trade pack generation, B2B pricing, and wholesale collection management shifted from a manual burden to a managed workflow. Wholesale grew without adding proportional admin overhead.
Purchase orders and shipments through Alaiko and Rydership are now tracked automatically with exception alerts. The operations team has visibility they simply didn't have before.
Custom apps built around actual team workflows replaced generic interfaces. The warehouse, returns, and operations teams do more in less time with fewer errors.
TikTok is connected as a live channel rather than an afterthought. New sales channels can be added into the integration layer without rebuilding everything from scratch.
“Found Dev Partners and they were great, nothing too much trouble and they have managed to help us with integrating our old existing system with Shopify.”
