Custom Shopify builds, ERP integrations, theme development and platform migrations. A Shopify Select Partner that writes code rather than configures apps, with a direct line to the developers doing the work.

One of our closest areas. We are based in Gravesend, Kent, about 45 miles from Woking via the M25. Surrey brands get a development team that can be on-site quickly when a project needs it, at rates that are not inflated by a Central London address.

We have worked with Jason & his team to develop our Shopify store, and the experience was outstanding from start to finish. The design is clean, modern, and perfectly aligned with our brand identity, while the build is fast, responsive, and easy to manage on the backend. They clearly understood our vision and delivered a store we’re genuinely proud of. Highly recommend to any brand looking for a top-quality Shopify partner.

Most Shopify agencies configure. We build.

There is a meaningful difference between a Shopify agency that assembles stores from existing themes and apps, and one that writes code. For a straightforward store with standard requirements, the assembled approach is fine and the cost is lower. For anything more demanding, it hits a wall fast.

Custom pricing logic that no app handles cleanly. ERP connections that need real API work, not a connector tool. A checkout flow that does something Shopify does not support out of the box. A migration from a platform whose data model does not map to Shopify's. These are solvable problems when you have developers who write Liquid, PHP, and JavaScript from scratch. They are not solvable with a plugin and a theme editor.

Surrey brands, from growing independents to established names with complex operational requirements, come to us when what they need is not in the app store.

What you get from a typical Shopify agency

  • A theme with your colours and logo
  • Apps stacked to approximate your requirements
  • Monthly app fees that compound over time
  • Workarounds when the app does not quite fit
  • A ceiling you hit when you need something custom
  • Account managers between you and the developers

What you get from Dev Partners

  • A Shopify store built to your specific requirements
  • Custom code where apps would compromise the outcome
  • ERP and warehouse integrations that actually work
  • Direct access to Rob and Jason throughout
  • A Select Partner with fifteen years of development experience
  • Code you own, not a subscription to someone else's tool

Shopify services for Surrey brands

Custom Shopify builds

A Shopify store built from a proper design and development brief. Not a configured theme with your branding applied. Custom Liquid, custom sections, custom checkout logic where the platform allows it, and a frontend that reflects your brand rather than Dawn with different colours.

ERP and warehouse integrations

Connecting Shopify to Oracle NetSuite, Peoplevox, Sage, or your existing warehouse management system. Real API integrations that keep inventory, orders, and fulfilment in sync without manual re-entry. We also built ShopFlow, our own inventory and order management system for brands that need ERP-level control at a fraction of the cost.

Platform migrations

Moving from Magento, WooCommerce, Visualsoft, or another platform to Shopify. Products, customers, order history, SEO redirect mapping, custom functionality and third-party integrations all handled. We have migrated stores from most of the major platforms and know where the complexity sits on each.

Custom apps and functionality

When no app does what you need, we build it. Custom product configurators, bespoke account-based pricing, wholesale portals, subscription logic, trade customer access tiers. Functionality built specifically for how your business works.

Shopify Plus

For brands at the scale where Plus makes sense. Custom checkout extensions, automation workflows, multi-store setups, B2B portals, and the advanced integrations the Plus tier enables. We work across standard Shopify and Plus, and will give you an honest view on whether the Plus upgrade is warranted for your business.

Theme development and optimisation

Custom theme builds, existing theme modifications, and performance work. Page speed, Core Web Vitals, conversion rate improvements. Liquid, CSS, and JavaScript written by developers who understand both the Shopify platform and how frontend performance affects your bottom line.

What our clients say

20 clients. A few of their words.

Working with Dev Partners to redesign and modernise our WMS system: the whole process has been thoroughly professional from the outset and a delight to work with. Cannot recommend enough.

Great agency. Have used Dev Partners for several years and they have built 20+ sites for us, in addition to taking on our legacy websites, upgrading and maintaining. Easy to work with and some great practical ideas to improve our digital offerings.

Jones Hire have been working with Dev Partners on several projects, which have been very successful. They linked our catering database to a new improved website so clients can easily place and update orders, created a custom warehouse picking app to fulfil all our challenging requirements, and are currently developing a custom transport app to streamline our loading and delivery process.

We have been trying to reinvent our website for over 5 years, trying to make it convert and failing each time. Spoke to Rob at Dev Partners, the team helped create our new site and the improvement was instant.

We have been working with Rob and the team for about 10 years now. Dev Partners helped us build a completely bespoke CRM from scratch which manages our daily business and is always well maintained. We have been able to use the system and roll it out in our new franchise branches.

We collaborated with Dev Partners on the front end of a fairly complex telemarketing platform. Rob and Jason took the time to properly understand the moving parts, asked the right questions, and delivered a clean, intuitive interface that's made the system far easier for our team to use.

I have been working with the team at Dev Partners for the last 3 years and we have always been impressed with the speed in which they act on things for us, along with the honest open communication. The team are a valuable and vital part of our supply chain.

We've had a program for our business in the electronic security sector that Dev Partners developed and keep up to date. They've never let us down, always there when needed. Thanks Rob and the team.

Dev Partners have been working with us for just over 2 years. They have significantly upgraded and redesigned our existing web platforms, and always deliver a first class service.

Dev Partners helped us build an event website. The team were very knowledgeable, easy to work with and quick to deliver a high quality product.

Working with Dev Partners has been an exceptional experience. Their team is highly skilled, professional, and committed to delivering results. What truly sets them apart is their communication and transparency; we always felt informed, supported, and confident.

We've worked with Dev Partners a few times to support us on bespoke web build tasks. They're very easy to work with, approachable, and explain the detail in a way that's understandable. A great partner for technical issues at sensible prices.

Excellent customer service backed up with solid experience. As a media business we have had five websites built by Dev Partners. I would certainly recommend them.

Found Dev Partners and they were great, nothing too much trouble. They managed to help us with integrating our old existing system with Shopify.

I've worked with Rob and his team off and on for many years and have always found them to be professional, knowledgeable, and best of all, they listen to their clients and deliver what is required.

We have worked with Dev Partners for 7 years and can highly recommend them for their expertise and excellent customer service.

Questions worth asking any Shopify agency

If you're evaluating Shopify partners and you want straight answers rather than sales responses, here are the questions you should be asking, and our honest answers to them.

Apps can do most things at a surface level. The problem is that every app you add is a dependency, a performance cost, a monthly fee, and a potential conflict with the next app you install. When you have eight apps bolted together trying to approximate the workflow your business actually needs, you end up with something slow, fragile, and expensive to maintain. Bespoke development builds what you need directly into the store. It is faster, cleaner, has no recurring app fees, and does not break when one of your app providers pushes an update.

Shopify does make platform changes, and we stay current with all of them. Part of the reason we keep most clients on ongoing retainers is exactly this: when Shopify deprecates an API version or changes how a core feature works, we handle the update before it causes a problem. Custom development on Shopify is not inherently fragile. It is fragile when it is built quickly without considering platform conventions. We build to Shopify's standards, which means platform updates rarely cause issues and when they do, we fix them quickly.

The most common version of this story is: the agency looked impressive, the proposal was polished, and then delivery was slow, communication dropped off, and the finished store was not what was discussed. That happens because many Shopify agencies prioritise winning work over delivering it. We are a small team. Rob and Jason are involved in every project. You deal directly with the people writing the code, not with an account manager who summarises your emails to a developer you never speak to. We do not take on more work than we can deliver well.

At a large agency, your project is one of dozens being managed simultaneously. The senior people who pitched you move on to the next pitch. Day-to-day work is handled by whoever is available. At Dev Partners, the people you met are the people building your store. There is no handoff. For a project that matters to your business, that direct relationship is worth more than the size of the agency's client logo wall. Our clients include AX Paris, Motel Rocks, and Chi Chi London. We got those clients because the work is good, not because we are big.

We will tell you honestly if Shopify is not the right fit. For most mid-market retailers, it is: the platform is stable, well-supported, constantly improving, and handles everything from a simple catalogue to a complex multi-currency, multi-warehouse operation. WooCommerce gives more theoretical flexibility but at the cost of significant ongoing maintenance overhead. For businesses that want to focus on selling rather than managing hosting, plugins, and platform updates, Shopify is almost always the right answer. If your situation is unusual enough that it might not be, we will say so in the initial conversation.

Select Partner status is awarded based on verified client results and demonstrated technical capability, not just agency spend or size. Shopify has confirmed that we deliver results for our clients. Practically, it gives us access to Shopify's technical support channels, early visibility of platform changes, and the wider partner ecosystem. More importantly, it means our work has been validated by the platform itself rather than just by our own marketing.

Yes. We take over existing Shopify stores regularly. The process starts with a proper audit of what has been built, how it is structured, and what the quality is like. We give you an honest assessment before committing to ongoing work. Some inherited stores are well-built and easy to extend. Others have accumulated technical debt that makes changes risky. We tell you which one you have, and what the options are, before you decide whether to engage us.

Integration is one of the things we do most. We have connected Shopify to Oracle NetSuite, Sage, Xero, Peoplevox, custom ERP systems, 3PL providers, and various bespoke back-office platforms. The approach depends on what systems are involved and what data needs to flow between them. Some integrations use existing APIs, some require custom middleware, and some involve building the connection from scratch. We scope this properly before quoting and build it to be maintainable rather than fragile.

Most of our Shopify clients move to an ongoing development retainer after launch because a Shopify store is never finished. There are always new features to build, integrations to extend, and platform changes to handle. We monitor closely in the period immediately after launch, fix any issues quickly, and stay available. The clients we have had for years are on Shopify stores we built and continue to develop. That ongoing relationship is how most of our best work happens.

Questions from Woking and Surrey businesses

Yes. We work with brands across Woking, the wider Surrey area, and the South East regularly. We are based in Gravesend, Kent, about 45 miles from Woking via the M25. Most Shopify development work runs remotely without any need for on-site visits, though we are more accessible to Surrey clients than most agencies outside London.

Shopify's partner programme has tiers based on the volume and quality of work delivered through the platform. Select Partner status reflects a track record of building and launching Shopify stores to a standard Shopify recognises. It is not the highest tier, but it reflects consistent delivery across a meaningful number of projects. We are transparent about where we sit in the programme.

Yes. ERP and warehouse integrations are a core part of our Shopify work. We have built integrations with Oracle NetSuite, Peoplevox, Sage, and custom warehouse management systems. We also built ShopFlow, our own inventory and order management platform for brands that need ERP-level control without the cost and complexity of a full ERP implementation.

Yes. We have migrated stores from Magento, Visualsoft, WooCommerce, and other platforms. A migration is more than moving products: customer data, order history, SEO redirect mapping, custom functionality, and third-party integrations all need handling correctly. We scope migrations carefully before any work starts so you have a clear picture of what is involved.

Not necessarily. Shopify Plus makes sense at meaningful monthly revenue volumes where the additional features (custom checkout extensions, B2B functionality, advanced automation, multi-store management) justify the higher platform fee. We will give you an honest view on whether Plus is warranted for your specific requirements and revenue level, rather than defaulting to the higher tier because it earns us more.

It depends entirely on what needs building. A focused theme customisation or feature build is a different scope to a full custom Shopify build with ERP integration. We scope every project before any work starts and provide a fixed price rather than an estimate. The discovery conversation is free and without obligation.

A Shopify store is easy to launch and hard to get right at scale. The work that matters is the part customers never see — how cleanly it talks to your stock, your orders and your back office. That's where we spend our time, writing code rather than stacking up apps.
